This host is useful for vectors with PR promoters so that expression is regulated by the cI857 repressor. Such vectors include pEX11 (ATCC 37708), pEX12 (ATCC 37709) and pEX13 (ATCC 37710).
Constructed by cloning a 2.3 kb BglII fragment containing the cI857 and PR promoter into pOM41 and then transferring into the chromosome of C600. This was introduced into the MM294 background by P1 transduction with aroB.
