Restriction digests of the clone give the following sizes (kb): BamHI--2.95, 0.42; HindIII--3.4. Insert contains StuI (2), BglII, and XhoI sites. Fragment derives from presumed extracellular portion of the gene. Deduced amino acid sequence is 40% homologous to EGF receptor. Does not hybridize to EGF receptor gene (c-erbB) even at relatively low stringency (30% formamide). Insert is oriented 3' to 5' relative to the SP6 promoter; transcription yields a probe complementary to neu mRNA. |
