This probe encodes an epitope of collagen type VI since it was identified by immunoscreening a lambda gt11 library.
The insert encompasses that portion of the cDNA from about 1.2 kb to 3.2 kb from the 5' end, including the 3' portion of the triple-helical domain.
The probe detects the following genomic TaqI fragments (kb): human specific--6.0, 4.4 and/or 4.1 (polymorphic); mouse--6.6; Chinese hamster--2.0.
This probe detects a mRNA of 4.2 kb in human fibroblasts.
