Restriction digests of the clone give the following sizes (kb): EcoRI/SalI--4.5, 2.7; EcoRI--7.3; HindIII--6.4, 0.9. AmEPV is one of the few insect poxviruses which replicate in insect cell lines. AmEPV is unable to replicate in vertebrate cell lines. The Entomopoxvirus spheroidin and thymidine kinase genes make attractive expression cassettes for heterologous genes which can be used in vertebrate poxviruses such as vaccinia and swine pox virus. |
