Infected BS-C-1 cells (ATCC CCL-26) slowly develop cytoplasmic eosinophilic inclusions. Will not grow in Rhesus Kidney cells. Must by cultivated at 33-35C, will not grow at 37C. Has group antigen for Poxvirus, crosses slightly with vaccinia and monkeypox and is less stable. Does not hemagglutinate. |
